Today it doesn’t really matter if you are left-handed or right-handed, although majority of gadgets and devices are made for right-handed people, but lefties have been treated badly for thousands of years just because they were different.

Humans can be pretty stupid that way. During one period of time, they have even been accused of witchcraft.

Luckily for the leftie, things have changed nowadays, so let’s take a closer look at why most people are right-handed.

This interesting question has baffled scientists for a long time, but the only thing they could find was that right-handed dominance could be traced back some 600,000 years or so.

Now they appear to have found the reason behind this strange occurrence.

Embracing the Asymmetry & Blaming the Language

Namely, scientists have found that there are multiple genes involved in the expression of handedness, some of which are the main culprits when it comes to the asymmetry of our bodies.

The left hemisphere of our bodies is responsible for language, while it is also responsible for controlling the right-hand side of our bodies, and it appears there’s a link between the two. New findings reveal that the preference for using your right hand developed as a side effect to the left hemisphere evolving so it would be able to process language better.

So there you have it. Language is responsible for most people being right-handed. Bad language! Bad!
