In a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday, former UFC champion Ronda Rousey said she briefly contemplated suicide after tough loss to Holly Holm in November.

“Honestly … I was sitting in the corner [of the post-fight medical room] and was like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?’ I was literally sitting there thinking about killing myself.”

Rousey’s father committed suicide when she was just 8 years old, so this type of destructive emotional state sounds even more dire coming from the athlete with family history of depression and suicide.

“In that exact second, I’m like, ‘I’m nothing. What do I do anymore?” she said, wiping away tears. “No one gives a s–t about me anymore without this.'”

Rousey said that her devotion to her boyfriend UFC fighter Travis Browne is what gave her the strength she much needed.

“I looked up at him and I was just like, ‘I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive.’ “
