The temperatures are plummeting and the holidays are finally here, but not all of us have a date for the Christmas party. We say don’t fret – we have just what you need.

The Christmas party is the perfect opportunity to inebriate yourself just enough to man up and approach your crush. However, this approach still has to be well-thought-out.

You have feelings for your crush and that’s perfectly normal, but you need to be careful and you need a plan so you don’t end up embarrassing yourself. Or even worse – her.

A Huge No-No

First things first. In order to know what TO do, you first need to learn what you must NEVER do while trying to get your crush, and that is: never be over-persistent and creepy.

We can’t stress this enough.

Nobody likes creepy and annoying dudes. It makes people uncomfortable and you’ll just end up with a bad reputation. Casual is the way forward!

Preparation Period

Laying the groundwork can be crucial. According to The Sun, these are key tips to think about before the actual party:

  • Concentrate on the appealing parts of your personality
  • Avoid sexual references
  • Make small talk and try to come off as casual
  • Be imaginative whenever you approach her

The Big Day

When the big say comes, you need to be swift, but subtle. This can be a rather tricky game though, so you need to figure out the perfect pace.

If you don’t actually know your crush, start by giving her a nod when you pass her. Say “good afternoon” and try to make small talk. If she plays along, extend the conversion every time you see her.

If you already know the girl, start with subtle touches on the small of her back or hand. This should give you a sense of whether is interested in you. If she embraces it, you’re in!

Now, all you need to do is find a quieter place where you can make your final move.

Mistletoe anyone?
