SEGA games

All hail the good old times! If you are a fan of classic retro SEGA games, you are in for a treat. Every SEGA game ever created will soon be available as a free-to-play app for iOS and Android. SEGA has just announced “SEGA Forever,” a platform that offers games from each console era:

  • Master System
  • Genesis/Mega Drive
  • Dreamcast…

All of these games will be available to all iOS and Android users at all times, as SEGA Forever will have an offline mode as well.

As Inquisitr and Metro UK report:

SEGA Forever will launch this week on iOS and Android for free. Some of the titles that are expected to be released are Mega Drive games Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star II, and Sonic The Hedgehog. According to Metro UK, these games will be playable offline and has modern features such as cloud saves, online leaderboards, and Bluetooth controller support.”

A New Game Every Two Weeks

SEGA company will be releasing a new game every two weeks, until eventually every SEGA game ever created is incorporated into the SEGA Forever app.

Chief Marketing Officer Mike Evans is the mastermind behind this project:

“We’ve never before done something that really crosses all of the different gaming eras, and isn’t prejudice against someone because they grew up in the ’80s versus the ’90s. And so what we’re trying to do is look at how we can take content that spans two decades and make it all available in the same place,” says Evans in his interview for Metro UK.

He also added that they are trying to make the experience as good and as genuine as possible, so the games will be kept in their original forms with no added difficulty levels or aids.

“We haven’t gone in and changed the original ROM itself, we’ve kept them as faithful emulations. Which was important in making this project work commercially,” Evans explains.

Groovy!
