3. The Last Airbender

“The Last Airbender” movie is remarkable in that it disappointed two large audiences.

Fans of the animation it’s based on complained that key characters were missing and that it didn’t capture the spirit of the original.

Fans of M. Night Shyamalan couldn’t believe that the man behind awesome movies like “The Sixth Sense” could be connected with such a turkey.

The CGI sequences are incredible, but these can’t rescue a film with little plot and a confusion of cultural and spiritual references.

It’s hard to know whether “The Last Airbender” is aimed at adults or children, but it doesn’t really work for either audience.

The movie was doomed from the start in the UK as the term “bender” holds a very different meaning to British audiences. Lines such as “Look Out, He’s a Bender!” resulted in plenty of giggling in UK movie theatres making it difficult for audiences to take the movie seriously.

Incredibly, the movie managed to gross more than double its budget of $150 million despite being regarded as one of the worst movies of all time. The movie was also heavily criticised for casting white actors in the main roles as the original story features Asian characters.
